Statement on 7th of August, Assyrian Martyr’s Day, And the Second Founding Anniversary of The Supreme Body for Establishing the Parliament of the Land of Assyria.
Year after year, the memory of the massacres of the martyrs of the Assyrian nation is renewed in our hearts, while enthusiasm grows in our chests, and screams and shouts resound in our ears. They are the cries of the truth that was strangled and the cries of the heroes on the gallows proclaiming the truth, just as they are the cries of the elders who have been betrayed and the mothers who were burned in the crematoriums of the enemies and the cries of the children whose innocent life was taken from them and they were all killed mercilessly and in cold blood. It is the commemoration of the seventh of August, the day of the heroes who stood up to the enemies and sacrificed for their just cause by demanding freedom and life for the people of their nation. It is the day of the Assyrian martyr in which our heads bow in honor of the martyrs of the Assyrian nation in every place and time. As this day reminds us of the Sayfo massacres in World War I by Ottomans in Tur-Abdin, Hakkari, and others, and passing through the killing operations that targeted Semeleh by the newly born so called Iraqi army and those who were with it from some Kurdish clans at the time, till Soria, whose righteous sons were killed, that crime that It was committed against them by so called the Iraqi regime and its army, which relied on the original sons of the country. And the Anfal operations of Saddam’s regime at the end of the eighties of the last century and during the days of ISIS’s occupation of the Assyrian towns in Nineveh Plains and the villages of Khabour. There is a common denominator in all these events and others, which is the killing of thousands of our Assyrian people, the shedding of their pure blood, and the dislocation and displacement of what remains of them. Thus, the enemies of our Assyrian people were able to seize the land where the Assyrians built the finest civilizations and served humanity for thousands of years. These and other events are part of the painful past of the Assyrian nation, which has always wanted to live in freedom, dignity, and peace on the land of the ancestors. The present is not so far from the past, the tragedies continue, and the people of the Assyrian nation are persecuted, and their land is usurped by the dominant power forces the owners of the land to emigrate. And the recent events are conclusive evidence of those policies, as they besiege the Nahla area and make life difficult for the residents of the region, the descendants of those who escaped from the claws of the murderous terrorists. Today, they are killed psychologically and dying every day because of the policies of the Kurdish occupation forces that are supported by the policy of the dominant power, and they try in various ways to narrow life on the Assyrians, the indigenous people of the country, to surrender and leave the land. Thus, the occupation controls the rest of their land that has not been controlled yet. And the legal owners of the land are eliminated, and then it becomes the property of the killers and the occupiers. Coinciding with the commemoration of the Assyrian Martyr’s Day, the seventh of August, today comes the second founding anniversary of The Supreme Body for Establishing the Parliament of the Land of Assyria, whose goal is to establish a democratic parliament to be a unified legitimate leadership for the people of the Assyrian nation. As we are in the Supreme Body for Establishing the Parliament of the Land of Assyria, we are striving to convince all our organizations and political parties to work jointly to establish the Parliament of the Land of Assyria. Because it is the only solution for the salvation of our nation from injustice, killing and displacement. We believe that we are an ancient nation capable of working together to accomplish this great project. On this occasion, we renew the call to all our Assyrian organizations and political parties to engage in the project of The Supreme Body for Establishing the Parliament of the Land of Assyria and to work seriously and sincerely to reach the desired goal of establishing a unified, comprehensive, legitimate leadership of the Assyrian nation that includes representatives of our national organizations, and political parties. In this way, we will be able to confront all attempts by the enemies that seek to undermine our people and plunder our historical land, Assyria. Thus, we have all fulfilled the promise we made to our righteous martyrs that we are walking on their path until our Assyrian people reach freedom and a decent life on their land and under the holy flag of Assyria.
