On this solemn day, August 7th, Assyrian Martyr’s Day, we pause to bow our heads in honor and remembrance of the martyrs of our proud Assyrian nation; those who paid the ultimate price for our existence, our identity, and our future. From the atrocities of Hakkari and Tur-Abdin to the Simele massacre, the crimes of ISIS, and the countless injustices committed by the occupiers of our homeland, the blood of our martyrs continues to cry out for justice, for unity, and for national resurrection.

Today, we also mark the fourth founding anniversary of The Supreme Body for Establishing the Parliament of the Land of Assyria. Our mission, since day one, has been clear: to lay the foundation for a legitimate and unified Assyrian political leadership; one that speaks on behalf of our nation, defends its rights in international forums, and safeguards its history and future, both in its ancestral homeland and in the diaspora.

In this past year, we have taken historic steps towards realizing that vision. In April, The Supreme Body for Establishing the Parliament of the Land of Assyria actively participated in the Yerevan Conference in Armenia, where the Assyrian International Council (AIC) was established as an important step toward global Assyrian coordination.

Today, we are proud to declare that we are approaching the realization of the ultimate goal that all Assyrians have long awaited; the establishment of the Assyrian Parliament. Preparations are well underway, and we will soon officially invite all Assyrian institutions and organizations, along with independent and prominent Assyrian figures active in national affairs, to participate in the Founding Conference, which will be held from September 19 to 21, 2025, in Gothenburg, Sweden.

We affirm that The Supreme Body for Establishing the Parliament of the Land of Assyria is engaged in dialogue and cooperation with AIC toward the successful execution of this founding conference. The outcome of this process will be the transformation of AIC into the Assyrian Parliament, with the inclusion of additional elected representatives from across the world. This Assyrian Parliament will become the highest institutional voice of the Assyrian nation, defending its rights, identity, and interests globally.

This is not a symbolic step. This is a historic turning point. A new era is dawning; one where unity will replace fragmentation, legitimacy will replace improvisation, and vision will replace reaction.

We call on all Assyrian organizations, institutions, and individuals to join this collective effort. Let us honor our martyrs not just with words, but with courageous action and national unity. The legacy of our ancestors and the hopes of our future generations demand nothing less.
